From the
beginning of time, human beings have realized that every living being comprises of a body and a soul. Every religion and belief system revolved around this concept. It has been said that the fact that we die is evidence to this effect. So that is that. I believe in it too. But……
Last night, I was thinking about the strange combination of this material body and the spiritual soul.
Body requires food, rest and all that is material in nature. They need to be covered. They need to be cleaned. The soul does not seem to need any of these. It seems to have an entirely different agenda, such as seeking knowledge, truth and all those that are not material in nature.
It seems that body has been invaded by an alien or that the soul is trapped in a cage from which it seeks freedom. There seems to be perpetual war. Neither seems to win or lose. Neither seems to have control over the other. However, it seems that, they cannot exist without the other!
The world has endless examples of such struggles. The fact that men cannot live without women, the struggle between religious ideologies, etc. I am not quoting Darwin here, but, there seems to be struggle within us and outside us…….. Everywhere. But why? Is this the law of nature? Is this how things are supposed to be? Is harmony just another word? I am a bit puzzled!
this is a very interesting thought. i myself have thought about this a lot of times and through my discussions with friends they say…soul does need almost everything a body needs too. …just it is different from what the material body needs!..for example soul’s food a spiritual person would say is his constant prayers and it’s cleaning could be when they redeem from the sins they have made!.
like u said body is material so it needs material stuff!!…soul is spiritual it needs spiritual things like good deeds and faith kinda stuff to go on which ain’t material in nature.
it is indeed very fascinating how two very different things are put together and made it work!…nature???!!!…who knows!
PS: mohamed your mind wonders around on the line of “taboo thinking”!!!!!..which normally ppl are afraid to talk about!..i like this blog post!..:)
I was very curious of this concept after reading this blog post and browsed the internet. i read something interesting and thought you would like to read as well,
‘The body is subservient and the soul is in charge; however both are indispensable…………
The body has its rights and its demands upon us. However what worth does the body have without the soul? It is a mere corpse, no matter how powerfully or beautifully it is constructed. If the soul departs from it, it becomes a wasted husk. Its beauty can only be realized in partnership with the soul.’
WHY is a matter of time don’t you think mode?..
Like sashwa said nature???!!!…who knows!…
and where every conversation ends.. ‘God works in mysterious ways.. only God knows’
Thank you both…so Wallah Au’lam is the answer to my questions.
Taboo is something that people create. So, I do not care much about taboo. As long as I have friends like you, I can deal with bad criticism.
